Am responsible for 2015 Failure - Jonathan

Former president, Goodluck Jonathan has taken responsibility for the poor performance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 general elections

It was reported that the former president admitted this when Chief Olabode George and his campaign team paid him a courtesy visit in his country home in Otuoke, Bayelsa State on Tuesday, November 21.

According to a statement by the Bode George media office, Jonathan was quoted as saying his goal “is how to ensure that the Peoples Democratic Party regains the Presidency in 2019.”
“Whether I like it or not, I must take responsibility for the defeat because I led the party to the election. The only thing that will make me sleep well is to ensure that the PDP comes back to power.”

Jonathan said although he preferred to work from the backseat, he was meeting stakeholders of the party to make sure its regained its glory. He said the mistakes of the past must not be repeated and that the party must take the right step to regain the confidence of the people. George who is on a nationwide campaign for the PDP chairmanship position congratulated Jonathan on his 60th birthday. He urged the former president to use his power to make sure the party comes out stronger after its national convention. Meanwhile, George called for the immediate resignation of the Chairman of the party’s national caretaker committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi.

Jellofgist.com gathered that the former deputy national chairman of the party on Tuesday, November 21, questioned the neutrality of Makarfi in the activities that would lead to the convention, adding that the role he was playing in the process towards the party national convention “is increasingly disturbing and rather untidy.” Nigerians want PDP back in 2019 - Goodluck Jonathan declares at PDP Caucus Meeting.
